Shamshad Begum

 

An occasional teacher with Peel District School Board, teaching primary and junior grades. She has been in the educational field for more than 10 years in Canada and abroad including the role of TESL educator. Currently, she is doing MEd in Curriculum Studies and Teacher Development at OISE. She is a busy mother of four children, whose weekend activities include volunteering in the local community.

Susan de Jonge

 

Currently a Learning Resource Teacher for the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board,  Susan entered the teaching profession in 1991.  Along the way, she has worked as an elementary school teacher for the former North York Board of Education and the HWCDSB.  Susan is currently completing her Master's Program in Leadership and Adult Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.  Susan is keenly interested in mental health and wellbeing and mindfulness in education.

Giacomo Folinazzo

 

Apart from teaching English-as-a-Second-Language and English-for-Academic purposes to adults at a post-secondary level for the past 14 years, Giacomo occasionally lectures Italian and Communication courses at Brock University. He is a full-time professor at Niagara College, where he also covers the role of Program Coordinator in the School of English Language Studies, and he is the faculty representative on the Board of Governors. He also taught in a private school in Japan for a year in 2005. In September, he will lecture a Language Acquisition course in a post-graduate TESL program, and he will see his first academic article published in the TESOL Journal. Giacomo is currently a PhD Student in LLE, and holds a Masters degree in Education and Applied Linguistics, a TESL certification, and a B.A. in Modern Languages. Aside from teaching, Giacomo is a father of three children and a busy singer currently specializing in Italian Opera and classical crossover.

Andrew is a Secondary Vice-Principal at Canadian International School - Vietnam.  He has experience in IB and Ontario curriculum, with a focus on students of high ability.  Previously, he worked as a Math and Science teacher and an IBDP Coordinator at 2 different schools. He has also been a part of multiple regional networks and collaborated with many other educators from different areas.  Andrew is an IB Workshop Leader and provides training to IB educators around the world on behalf of IB.  He is interested in learning more ways to incorporate technology into classrooms but also to teach adult learners in professional learning situations.
